Journal:

I decided late last night to have today off for several reasons.  Firstly, I had checked my route for the next week and discovered I would not be passing through any towns of villages as I walk along the top of a long mountain range that marks the border between Italy and Austria.  Secondly, I had failed to get internet access at the hotel I was staying at, and there were a few things I needed to get done online before going offline for a week.

So, I had a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before checking out and walking the short distance into the centre of the picturesque resort town,. Innichen, dominated by two very old churches and the surrounding mountains.  The central pedestrian area was full of street cafes, restaurants and up-market retailers and I spent some time wandering around, carrying my pack, before shopping for snacks for the next week and buying a newspaper which I read on a park bench in the sun in a small park.  Very pleasant.

I ate lunch in the same park, still reading the paper, and then caught a bus back to Sexten and booked into a hotel that does have working wi-fi and watched the Tour de France time trial before having a very nice dinner.

I'm unlikely to be able to post any journal updates for another week, if not longer.
